“Naturally” from The Sea…

Judy named this latest masterpiece, “Naturally.” She has been asking me for awhile to find the perfect draftwood treasure on our special beach in the Cove by the sea…

This piece has a natural groove all the way across the middle on the top. It has a natural notch on the bottom that lifts it up an inch or so.

Judy loves Air Plants and other things found in the Cove and other places by the sea. She lays these treasures in the groove when the spirits tell her so… Then, changes them around when she is moved by her soul.

We do this labor of love together as kindred spirits in love with each other and the sea. The stunning beauty of Little Whale Cove and the sea keeps our spirits alive while our love endures…

It is always love that keeps us whole and alive with inspiration. It is only love that keeps our hearts and souls at peace in the Cove by the sea…

“Sneaker Waves Kill!” Beachcombing on The Central Coast by Linda Van Dyke…

Lynda D. Van Dyke, with the loving children in her life..

I’ve always been afraid of sneaker waves, tsunamis, and King Tides. Our ocean is not the ocean of the Caribbean. Ours is a cold, windy, usually bringing in fog, kind of ocean.

Man cannot survive over 15 minutes without wet suits. Almost every year the boats go out, and may not all come back.

We have a long walk of tears in our town down at the Bayfront. That is the downside.

The wonders and magic our ocean beaches pull in are sometimes due to the horrors of the past. But in of themselves, they have become the diamonds created from coal.

We have gorgeous agates, rocks with unique fossils in them, beautiful shells, treasures, buoys. And, of course, Magnificent specimens of driftwood, making dreams of lands far away, so long ago…

People take it and make all kinds of creative sculptures, kids make art projects from it. And that’s a wonderful thing.

But how many people think about where it originated after being cut down? How many miles has it seen, time it has spent floating around the ocean? This is the point where stories are made, unique stories, from beginning to end of a piece of wood.

With love, dreams of lands far away, and the sea…

The Sea Lives in My Soul…

I came home to the sea once again. It is here where God touches my soul… It is here when my heart feels love and peace…

It was here 16 years ago when Depoe Bay reached out to me. It is here now where my ashes will go back to the sea…

When? Only God knows when my soul returns to the sea. After all, this is where I came… It is only fitting I return to the sea…

When I look out to sea, I feel God touch my soul. I feel peace of mind once again…

I watch the Gray Whales when they visit Little Whale Cove. I stand and gaze without notice of the time.

I feel the Siletz Tribe fishing, hunting and caring for their families in the Cove long ago. I look at the Totem Pole watching over us in the Cove. It is here where God meets my soul..

Depoe Bay is a small loving, caring community by the sea. There is only kindness here. There is no hate, only love here by the sea, where sunsets appear on the horizon most days…

Storms always pass through, even when they rage. Storms pass just when I think the storm will never end. I feel renewed again, when the storm passes through.

When the Sun glows with such beauty through the clouds, I look out to sea. What do I feel and see?

I see the fishermen go back to sea again after the storm. The Whale watching boats follow closely behind too…

The cool sea breeze from the sea takes me far away. I see sea birds fly low and fly high with the wind. I close my eyes and think of love for nature and the sea. I feel love and kindness for my love too…

It is here by the sea where God meets all of us, not just some of us. I live in peace and love again right here by the sea…

My ashes will someday return to the sea. For it is here now when God touches my soul…
