Goslings Arrive in Little Whale Cove, Oregon! “Matt ‘n Mattie” are proud, indeed!

“Matt ‘n Mattie with little ones! Seven in all, not seen in years…

I wrote this week with some sadness about my Cove pals Matt ‘n Mattie. As Cove lovers and protectors of wildlife here in the Cove, we assumed Mattie and her goslings were taken by a predator…

The usual suspect was “Gritz” The Intrepid Eagle. We were wrong, joyously wrong, indeed!

It seems Mattie was in her nest much longer than normal. The days went by as we watched Matt alone in the Cove, mostly.

Matt had a couple of neighbors from Big Whale Cove visit while we were there a few days ago. A YouTube clip is included…

Now, we are happy to share a 10 minute YouTube clip showing our new family of nine playing and forging in the Cove. This is a joyous moment for all in the Cove!

I will be out in the Cove early a few times a week to watch them thrive and grow to be adult Canadian Honkers. There is always a risk that some goslings will not make it.

Join me each week for an update, including film, of this beautiful new family of resident Honkers, The whole Tribe will return to their winter home north to the Aleutians.

Until next week!

“Two Men and a Lady” and “Koda” play by the Bay… The matinee at Rocky Creek this afternoon, featuring two males and a female gray whale, was X-rated and exciting, to be sure…

“Koda” The Whale Watching Golden Doodle, is a hit with the Gray’s, especially the kids in tow… He knows his pals, the Gray’s, who make their home by the Bay…

I dream of ‘Whale Watching’ most days as the the Gray Whales party in the Bay. Koda loves these beautiful animals, as they are his wildlife friends too…

I get a look at my Gray Whale friends while walking the Coast trail in Little Whale Cove. I dream of being with Koda as we watch all our Gray Whale friends together…

Koda barks as a Gray he knows comes near the boat to say hello. He especially loves the sweet smell of his Gray Whale pals as they spray near the boat.

We humans don’t like the smell, though. But, I know Koda does, and that makes the ‘sweet’ smell okay for me too…

“Wilber n Baxter” The Wonderkinds from Agate Beach…

“Wilber n Baxter”

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” C.S. Lewis

According to my friend Jason, “Wilbur n Baxter” are known as the “two little majestic poop heads.” Why he calls his adorable furry loved ones this delightful endearment, only they would know…

When I think about Wilber n Baxter, it is not poop. But know poop is a big part of caring for the furry loved ones who touch our lives…

“Majestic Poop Heads” sounds like double poop duty for Jason to me. Maybe that’s why they got the promotion and title…

I used to have a neighborhood furry friend we called Mr. Poopers. He was always on the go…

Furry friends keep us busy with the ‘poop n pee’ thing. Why can’t they use the can and clean up just like the rest of us?

I think Wilber n Baxter would use the can, if Jason would let them. But they know he wants to take them to their favorite tree in the forest or the beach instead.

Wilber n Baxter like to take their time in the forest visiting preferred trees and special places along the way on the trail they love. Sometimes Jason grows impatient with them too…

Wilber n Baxter love Agate Beach the most. They can run, play, poop, and pee when no one but them can see… Jason is to busy to see as he gazes out to sea…

Sometimes Jason wants to run with Wilber n Baxter. But, Wilber can’t keep up as much with his pals running on the sand and near the sea…

Baxter knows this to be a source of disappointment for Jason and Wilber most of the time. But he knows they love him anyway…

Jason, Wilber n Baxter are hanging out at Agate Beach on this day, I see. The “Wonderkinds of Agate Beach” play, poop and pee in the sand, while Jason watches with glee…
