Speaking on The Issues in Lincoln County, Oregon…

by | Jan 3, 2022

“Well said! Well said! Yes our County Commissioners really care about our county. They are approachable, sensitive and interested in improving our county. There are so many issues they are tasked with managing and it must be quite a challenge to keep up especially with COVID overshadowing everything we do these days. Thank you for sharing your concerns about health & human services and homelessness- these are very good points. I’d like to add my top two concerns are lack of mental health services. We can’t seem to keep counselors in the county. Shortages in this area abound. Secondly, there is a lack of resources for foster youth and a real scarcity of foster families, too.”

To address the concerns and questions Tianna expresses in feedback to me yesterday will take a larger community conversation. I think we can start that here…

First, Lincoln County Health & Human Resources does a great job with very limited resources. Best place to start is to reach out to my friend and colleague, Jayne Romero, Director…

She runs an organization with great people, many who I call friends and colleagues I care about and respect. They all work very hard with limited resources…

What does limited resources mean to me? It means we, as a community must step up and do more as a complementary resource. Let’s get going right now…

As a community, we own our health & wellness, not Jayne. She can give us the tool kit, but we have to learn to use it and act…

We do this on the ground in our own local communities. This is where we can make a difference, believe me…

Next steps!

Waldport is very fortunate to have Heidi Lambert serving on the City Council. Talk to her right now. If you don’t know her, reach out to Heidi. I know her as a dear friend and colleague…

We both serve on the Lincoln County Oregon Behavioral Advisory Committee. Learn about that here…

Heidi & I can both help with community building. Together, we are the best of the best at that…

We also have the ability and technology platform to bring folks together on Zoom meetings for conversation, including training to help you.

We can all do this from the comfort and safety of being at home with the fire place going, and calmimg sounds of your choice. I’m doing this right now…

Time to get started. Waldport is a great place to get started. Let’s go friends & neighbors, right now in this minute…

But first, do your homework. Then reach out to us, but not before. Talk soon…
