“Here’s what we can clear up and declare as true: Weather does not affect the course of arthritis. However, it may have some impact on arthritis symptoms in some people. Warm, dry climates may allow some people with arthritis to feel better, but there is no climate that is an arthritis-free zone.Jan 30, 2022.”
Stay cool & be cool…
Most folks who say to me, “it’s too hot there, and there’s no water.” Before we move to Sun City Festival, I researched the water resources in Arizona to find the truth. Here’s the link. www.arizonawaterfacts.com/water-your-facts
Yeah, in Oregon where we moved from after 17 years, we never felt like conserving water was something to whine, complain and blame about. Now, I see the value of learning about water resources management, especially the future and impacts of climate change.
Too hot?
It’s too hot for most in Arizona during the summer months from May through August. For me, at least this past summer, my health improved dramatically. It’s been a spiritual journey that is healing my body and mind. Living in Arizona has been truly a gift of healing and new dreams.
Staying cool when it’s too hot…
First thing on my list was changing our body timers as a team. Most folks who live here are early risers, like 5am. Experiencing the dramatic drop in temperature from 110+ to the 70s by nightfall is most refreshing and cool more ways than uno. We love to watch the spectacular Sonora sunsets from our backyard just before dark.

Try to stay inside when it’s too hot later in the day. Every region in America has some sort of climate issue we can whine about. On the Central Oregon Coast, where we lived for 17 years, summers are always gorgeous from June through September. During the remaining eight months there are more than enough cold, windy, and rainy days to whine and complain about.
Use it or lose it…
The most important thing for me is walking again! My strength is improving with each day. Walking 1.5 miles most days early is a gift. I also use the recumbent bike at the recreation center. Swimming and floating in the pool is cool and invigorating. Most folks here are also very engaging with happy faces, smiles and laughter.
Change was hard…
We miss the coast. Leaving our home of 17 years was emotionally tough. We both knew it was time for a change. After a bit of consternation, we pulled out all the stops, and made a decision we haven’t regretted.
My attitude is go for it, never looking back. Change is hard but very rewarding and healthier too.
Go for it with gusto, I say…
