Children without a Dad on Fathers Day because of PTSD…

8 year old plea to President Obama on Fathers Day…  Quote from this website…

“So many military and veteran children are affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder when their parents returns home from war. Right now an average of 22 veterans a day commit suicide.

Jesse Gourley, 8 years old, has seen the effects of PTSD first hand from her Dad and also has seen her friends lose veteran family members to suicide.

So she decided a plea to President Obama for help was the answer so no other children lose their parents to suicide brought on by PTSD.”

I was an 8 year old post WWII kid long ago… scared, silent, and clueless about living with a parent who suffered severely with PTSD following extended combat during WWII and Korean War…  Writing a note to the President of the United States would have been impossible!  Technology is a wonderful thing today, allowing kids to connect and talk about their own challenges.  We are far more aware at any age these days about PTSD, but have a long way to go.  Jesse Gourley is my hero on Fathers Day along with all the kids who now are more aware of living with PTSD and try to do something about it…and heal at the same time… Cheers to Jesse!
