Nicole:  Hi, I’m Nicole Lovald. I manage Capella’s military programs—and I’m a Capella graduate.  I earned my master’s degree while moving around the country with my husband, who’s in the Army. Here at Capella, we understand how challenging it can be to complete a degree program as a servicemember, a veteran, or a military spouse, which is why we have a team of experts dedicated to assisting you.  We’re here with Jim Norton, one of our military advisors and Alex Eisch, our VA Certifying Official.http://www.capella.edu/military/military-index.aspx?linkID=4311&WT.mc_id=4311&Refr=

Capella offers those serving in the Armed Forces and veterans an excellent opportunity to start and complete higher educational goals while deployed.  As a US Navy veteran, I recall the importance of continuing my education way back in the early 1960’s.  At that time, I could only take high school correspondence courses with the goal of completing my diploma requirements prior to separation from the US Navy.  I wanted to not only have my HS diploma, but to be in a stronger position to get my first job in the telecommunications industry, using my Naval vocational training in radio communications and electronics.  It took me many years to finally complete my college education, but the education component has always been very critical to opportunities for achieving professional goals.

With the exponential advancement in information technology (IT), programs offered by educational institutions like Capella can be pursued anywhere in the world.  This is really exciting!  My career in information technology makes this very personal since my work was engaged in building the infrastructure for Internet, including fiber optic high speed backbone and local distribution networks extending access virtually everywhere in the world.  I am very proud to have participated in the IT business for so many years, and now take advantage of the full benefits in retirement while pursuing my goals as a blogger and writer.
